Kona Kai San Diego Resort
Kona Kai Resort on Shelter Island is a hidden gem in San Diego that perfectly blends luxury with coastal charm. From the moment you arrive, the welcoming fire-and-fountain entrance, signature scent, and cozy fireplace lounge set a relaxing tone. The spacious, beautifully appointed rooms—especially those with harbor views—offer true comfort, and the beds are exceptionally supportive (a huge plus for anyone with back issues). Though there’s no direct beach access, the resort’s sandy area with fire pits creates a laid-back, social vibe—don’t miss the cute s’mores kits at the front desk. The on-site spa is a must, offering indulgent treatments, champagne, and five-star service. While the pool looked inviting, the standout features for us were the spa, marina views, and upscale yet friendly atmosphere. The on-site dining is a bit pricey but comes with unbeatable views. There's also a solid gym and a chic gift shop. Booking through Costco made this luxury experience surprisingly budget-friendly. We can’t wait to return!
